Hydatidiform Mole with Coexistent Fetus in the Third Trimester : A Case Report


Abstract
A case of hydatidiform mole and coexistent fetus was found in the third trimester. A 32 year-old, G3P2L2D0A0, woman complained of regular abdominal cramps at 35 weeks of gestation. She delivered a living male baby weighing 2.5Kg by repeat
cesarean
section. The baby was chromosomally norma and is in good health at present, 8 months-old. The placenta consisted of normal placental tissue and comple mole. Regular follow up showed that the level of beta-human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG)
remained
in
plateau after 3 weeks postoperation. Chest X-ray taken at 6weeks revealed lung metastasis of mole. The patient was treated with 3 cycles of combined chemotherapy(etoposide, methotrexate, and actinomycin D). Three weeks after the initial
chemotherapy,
the level of beta-HCG had been to be normal and remained within normal range until 32 weeks postoperation.
